Mission and Vision

The mission of the Mathematical Heritage & Brilliance Initiative is to honor the rich cultural heritage of Black mathematical brilliance throughout history and around the world, ensuring that Black students see themselves as capable mathematicians and problem-solvers. With this purpose in mind, the Benjamin Banneker Association (BBA) and the Math Happens Foundation have partnered to create Benjamin Banneker Math Rooms—dynamic, hands-on spaces designed to engage learners in the exploration of mathematics.
