The Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. (BBA) is a non-profit organization of individuals and groups concerned about the mathematics education of ALL children – specifically children of African ancestry.

Founded in 1986 to provide a forum for mathematics educators, mathematicians, and other interested people to discuss the teaching and learning of mathematics for children of African ancestry, BBA is deeply committed to finding solutions to the problems that must be solved for these students to reach parity in opportunities to study and achieve in mathematics. Membership is open to all who share this interest.



Annual membership dues are $30, with discounts for multi-year membership ($54 for two years, and $80 for three years)..

If you desire to purchase a Student Membership, please use your student email when making the request.


Individuals may become eligible for Lifetime Membership in the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. if they are retired mathematics educators who have paid dues for the last five consecutive years.

Lifetime membership fees are paid only once. Silver lifetime membership is $250. Gold lifetime membership is $500. As a silver or gold lifetime member, your name will be published on the BBA national website and in every Annual Meeting Program. Gold lifetime membership includes free admission to annual BBA events and an honorary plaque (presented at the Annual Meeting).

Enrolled FULLTIME in an undergraduate or graduate program? Dues for FULLTIME college or university students are $15 annually.

We support K-12 student affiliate groups which we call Benjamin Banneker Association Student Groups. Dues for student affiliate groups are $50 annually, and includes a 1-year membership for the student advisor.
